June is the time of festivity for Sipocoteňos to honor its Patron Saint John the Baptist followed by its Foundation Anniversary which is on the 3rd day of July.
Sipocot is a first class municipality located at the first district of Camarines Sur.
Different lined activities will be held for this years’ occasion. Below is the schedule of events for the Town Fiesta, 214th Foundation Anniversary and 8th Pokot Festival spearheaded by Mayor Rogenor Astor together with the Sangguniang Bayan and LGU- Sipocot.
To give you a hint on what will be happening on these dates, here’s a brief highlight on last years celebration.
Civic and 1st Congressional District Military Parade
Different schools and institutions in the municipality and in the 1st Congressional District battle it out for the best marching band, majorettes, cadets, cadettes, DLC and earn a slot for the upcoming Peňafrancia Festival.
Annual Barasaan
Commuters fear not for this is just a part of honoring Saint John. Residents flock the streets carrying their dipper, water guns while the fire truck showers them as they approach the church with the accompaniment of a marching band.
Pokot Festival
A fun colorful spectacle to see students in their own interpretation of the Sipocot Legend; music, costumes and street dancing entertains the spectators.
Miss Sipocot
Talented, smart and gorgeous locals in their quest to be a beauty queen.
